On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the Expert Collective's FLY initiative took off to reach out to the young minds of Cochrane. The vibrant and unforgettable event was the perfect opportunity for FLY to connect with the local youth and inspire them to reach for the stars.

FLY offers a diverse range of experiences that left a lasting impact on everyone who attended. The event was a true reflection of FLY's commitment to empowering youth and providing them with the tools they need to succeed.

As the sun shone down on the Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre, participants were treated to a wide range of exciting activities. The center's state-of-the-art facilities provide the perfect backdrop for the event, with the Philergos Indoor Turf, a double gymnasium, Garmin 3-lane track, and other facilities ensuring that everyone had a great time.

On April 30, 2023, Project FLY was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation for the organization's exceptional support of the "Kids and Hoops" Basketball Clinic. This vibrant event, which took place at the Spray Lakes Family Sports Centre, focused on providing young participants with a fun and engaging environment to learn the fundamentals of basketball while building camaraderie and confidence.

The Appreciation Certificate is a testament to Project FLY's commitment to empowering youth through sports and fostering essential life skills. Under Lisa's leadership, the organization has been instrumental in creating opportunities for personal growth and teamwork, both on and off the court.

Blizzards Coaches Andy De Guzman and Coach Dan Share Their Passion and Expertise with Young Athletes

Coach Andy De Guzman (right), a seasoned basketball player and mentor, boasts a remarkable 19-year career in the sport and has been coaching youth basketball since 2004. He co-founded the Filipino Canadian Basketball Academy (FCBA) and has worked with several prestigious organizations throughout his career. Coach De Guzman recently attended the Cochrane outreach on Sunday, sharing his passion and expertise with young athletes. Upholding his belief that "good practice makes perfect," he continues to make a meaningful impact in the world of basketball.

Coach Dan (left), an experienced basketball player and skilled manager, immigrated to Canada in 2011 and later joined forces with Coach Andy De Guzman to establish FCBA Blizzards Basketball in 2019. Under Coach Dan's leadership, the organization has grown from a single court with 12 kids to occupying an entire gym. A former player at Bulacan State University, Coach Dan was known for his shooting prowess beyond the arc. With FCBA Blizzards, his primary goal is to provide children with the opportunity to play, enjoy sports, and pursue their dreams at the highest level of competition.

Celebrating Unity: FCACA Leaders Support Cochrane's Cultural Fusion Through Basketball Outreach

Mike Bautista, President of the FCACA (2nd from the right), and Edwin Aguanta, FCACA Vice President (3rd from the right), were present to support the event. The Filipino-Canadian Association of Cochrane Alberta (FCACA) is a vibrant organization in Cochrane, Alberta, focused on fostering connections, celebrating culture, and promoting the heritage of Filipino Canadians living in the area. Through various events and activities organized by FCACA, members and guests can experience the warmth, unity, and spirit of the Filipino community while embracing the unique cultural fusion that enriches life in Cochrane.
